3rd
Western Massachusetts
Go Tournament
–Fall 2005–

Format: AGA-sanctioned handicap tournament, 4 rounds.

When: Sunday, December 4, 2005. Registration starts at 9 AM. First round starts at 10 AM.

Location: Lederle Tower, University of Massachusetts, Amherst MA. 16th floor.

Maps: Here's a map of campus, and a map from Google.

Directions: First follow these directions to UMass. The Lederle Tower is a big ugly concrete tower, the one right on an intersection with a stop light. (Yes, UMass has more than one ugly concrete tower!). Here's a picture of Lederle.

Once you're on campus, here's how to find Lederle. From the east: As you enter campus from Triangle Street, at the first stop light, make a right onto North Pleasant St. Go through campus for about a half mile until you see another stop light. Lederle is the big concrete tower on the corner. Make a left at the light to find parking. From the west: After you exit from Rt 116, make a left at the first light where you can do so. This is Governor's Drive. You'll see athletic fields on your left. Go straight through a stop light. Follow the road as it bends right. Park on your left, in lot 68. Keep following the road on foot to find Lederle at the corner.

Parking: Most UMass parking regulations aren't enforced on Sundays. Parking is available behind the grad tower and a block away (lots 68, 31, and 26). These are indicated on the campus map. We'll have signs, too, so as long as you find Lederle, we'll show you where to park.

Entry fee: $15 / $10 for students and underemployed. Lunch will be delivered (pizza/salad) for $5 extra. AGA membership is required, but you can register on-site. Membership costs $5 for the day, $10 for the year if under 22, or $15 for the year otherwise.

Why you should come: (a) You love go! (b) Refreshments will be provided (coffee/donuts/etc). (c) Plenty of prizes! We'll have three sections for prizes (number of entrants permitting), so that weaker players will have a chance at prizes, too.

Also: For those coming a long way, overnight accomodations are available (contact organizers).
