The 2006 Philadelphia Fall Open
The Penn Go Society held its second annual AGA-rated Go tournament at the University of Pennsylvania, on Sunday, December 10, 2006. Twenty-seven participants turned out to compete in the AGA-rated Go tournament, which was organized and directed by Peter Nassar, Matt Bengtson, and Paul Matthews. The tournament featured 4 rounds of play, with 3 Divisions of players, full handicaps, and Fischer time format (18 min basic time + 15 s / move additional). Prizes were awarded for the top 4 winners of each Division.
For the second year in a row, Ricky Zhao, 3-dan, took the first place prize with an amazing 4-0 record. Special thanks go to Bill Cobb at Slate and Shell, who donated a number of books for the kyu-level prizes; as well as to Josh Marcus and Tim Coble who secured for us a working laser printer at the last minute; and finally to all our friends who helped us set-up and break-down the event!
