About the Massachusetts Go Association

The Massachusetts Go Association functions like a key club, with members having unlimited 24-hour access for a yearly fee. Reduced membership fees are available to students, seniors, the unemployed, and those living outside route 495. All first-time members also pay the reduced rate. A special introductory rate is offered to all beginning players who are also first-time members. Membership forms with fee schedules are available at the club or online at Membership form.

The club maintains a library of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and English-language go books and journals. We sponsor four tournaments a year and from time to time offer courses at all levels, including beginner. We also play host regularly to visiting professional players.

Although members may come at any time, Tuesday and Friday evenings (beginning around 7) have evolved into the club's regular playing times. Visitors are always welcome. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, and our members are always ready to welcome newcomers and help beginners.

Non-members may call the club at (617)629-0110 to ensure that someone will be there to let them in. Non-members pay a fee of $5 per visit ($3 for students), but the first few visits are free. Short-term foreign visitors are welcome to play without charge for the duration of their stay. For further information, call (978) 562-4189.

The official go organization in the United States is the American Go Association (PO Box 397, Old Chelsea Station, New York NY 10113-0397).
