5/12/08 - Meetings in Middletown a Success!
By Ben

I want to officially declare our meetings in Middletown a success! The location is great and there seems to be lots of interested people walking by. The semester at Wesleyan is coming to an end this week and many of the students will be going home for the summer. However, I know we have a number of people who will still be coming to play every Friday at 5:30pm.

If attendance keeps up we, can begin to think about organizing a tournament in the Fall!

2/17/08 - Upcoming Tournaments: New Jersey Open & One Ide Beats No Ides
By Ben

Two tournaments are quickly approaching in the New England area!

The New Jersey open is being held on February 23rd and 24th at the Frist Campus Center at Princeton University. Registration begins at 10am on Saturday. For more info, contact Rick Mott.

The next tournament is the "One Ide Beats No Ides" tournament in Middlebury, VT on March 15th. I might attend this tournament just for the sole purpose of honoring the one to come up with such a great Go pun! I am unsure where the tournament takes place, so you'll need to contact Peter Schumer for more information.

2/17/08 - Great illustration of seki
By Ben

The AGA website posts a weekly go problem on their main page every week. This week, they posted multiple examples of seki. The definition of "Seki" for those of you who are new to the go world is, in short, mutual life. Or, at Sensei's library, it is described as "a sort of symbiosis where two live groups share liberties which neither of them can fill without dying." Click on the image for a larger picture. There is a contest this week to submit your construction of the sasquatch seki.
